New to the market for 2018, the reputable tortoise hotel has now launched their very own bespoke recyclable, plastic tortoise tables, enclosures and fencing. These incredible products not only look good but are long-lasting products, often with a life-expectancy exceeding 60 years. Thanks to its unique polymer structure, they are well suited for recycling when they come to the end of their life and they are by no means a one-use plastic!
Totally frustrated with the lack of decent tortoise tables for sale on the market, we decided to do something about it. First we located a manufacturer who had a proven track record in producing animal and child safe products. Together we designed an ideal, weather proof and robust tortoise enclosure. Most tortoise tables for sale in garden centres, pet shops and online are totally inadequate - they are usually made of wood and far too small. Our tortoise tables, enclosures and fencing can be extended over time. You’ll notice, however, we have deliberately ensured our tables are large and deep enough from the start.
Our tortoise tables, enclosures and fencing have an impermeable surface, are very easily cleaned and of a loose slatted construction to allow additional drainage. At first glance you would never notice.
First time tortoise owners are often seduced into buying totally unsuitable enclosures and equipment, leaving the tortoise with little or no space to roam, they may look good with ornate balconies and stairs, but the unsuspecting new keepers have no idea the stress and frustration it can cause their poor little pet. After all, you don't see them living like this in their own natural habitat now do you?
At the Tortoise hotel we have personally owned and rescued tortoises for over 30 years, we pride ourselves on keeping up to date with all the latest information on husbandry and tortoise wellbeing. We give free advice and training to the new tortoise owner and can guide you on the most suitable husbandry for your tortoise.
Our tortoise tables for sale have been designed in three different sizes. They can be made with or without a floor and can be used, in or outside the house. We've kept the prices as low as we possibly can, it is our mission to ensure tortoise owners have the most suitable enclosures for their pet and not about making loads of money!
Wood may seem cheaper, but it rots really easily - even when sealed. Tortoises are notorious for digging and climbing and will scratch and remove the sealant or paint in no time. Often, you’ll find yourself purchasing a new tortoise table every year.
If your tortoise decides at a later date he or she needs more space, these tortoise tables and tortoise enclosures have been designed so they can be extended.

Tortoise Tables For Sale
STANDARD TORTOISE PEN
The standard pen has been designed without a base. When used outside is enables a tortoise to graze freely without risk of escape. It is made from durable plastic and is easily assembled by one person, no tools needed. The standard pen should be placed on flat surface. If used on soft substrate, safety measures should be in place to prevent the tortoise from burrowing under the wall of the pen.
For portability do not glue post caps.
For a more permanent structure the post caps can be glued in place using silicone.

DELUXE TORTOISE TABLE
The Deluxe model has all the same features as the standard pen but the additional benefits of a solid, washable base. This pen is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. We are now able to offer this as a raised table on legs. To fix the base you will need to remove two decorative strips and remove two screws, this is easily done. Whilst it only takes one person to assemble it will take two people to carry the pen. This pen has been designed to drain excess water, please be aware as with any enclosure, there is a risk of water build up during extreme down pours. For this reason, we advise that you do not seal the base in place.

Location
You’ll need to plan a safe and secure outdoor place to situate your new tortoise table. Theft of tortoises is becoming more prevalent. Make sure it is away from public view so as not to attract unwanted attention.
Positioning your tortoise table in the right spot is worth planning well – a south facing garden is ideal but not everyone is lucky enough to be able to do this. Tortoises love to bask when they wake up in the morning, incorporating an east facing basking spot will help them bring out this natural behaviour and keep them happy.
Hides,Burrows and Bushes
UVA/B is essential for a healthy tortoise and absolutely nothing beats the natural sun (not even a basking lamp). Believe it or not they can get as much out of being outdoors even for just a couple of hours on the dullest of days as 12 hours under a lamp. They love the outdoors and seek to be outside as much as possible. Shade is just as important as sunlight and depending on the species a burrow/hide, bushes and plants are essential for them to stay cool and out of the heat.
Tortoise Table Covers
We use a handmade mesh cover for all our tortoise tables. Red Kite birds, Magpies, Foxes and even rats are harmful to tortoises. Older larger tortoises can be in harm’s way if a magpie decides to harass your tortoise by pecking them. Berkshire has a large Red Kite population and have been known to swoop down and take a very keen interest in the smaller babies. So mesh protection is a good idea to keep unwanted visitors off the table. At the tortoise hotel we use an avery panel which has been pre-made and purchased from eBay or Amazon. All you DIY experts will be able to easily make a panel fit. We went for the heavy, solid wood on the surround to help stabilise and prevent it being lifted off the table.
For ground level tortoise tables, we found a great little trick to keep your tortoise warm and dry on cold days and gives them a little protection from the wind. This enables you to get your tortoise out in early spring when they are at their most active. Click Link here
Drainage
To aid drainage our tortoise table comes with pre drilled holes on the under side of the edges. With it being modular, water would naturally seep through each section should the table fill with water in a sudden down pour. We have tested the enclosures ourselves by pouring buckets of water into them empty and we have used ours outside in all weathers.
Here are some tips to help drainage and to prevent it becoming water logged. Ensure you have enough large rocks and stones to allow water to drain. As a tortoise owner keep a close eye on your tortoise during flash downpours, many like to burrow and can find themselves in a few cms of water quite unexpectedly.
Provide a central mound of soil or rocks. Tortoises love to climb, and they would do this in their natural habitat. The mound or small hill would double up as a dry area out of harm’s way if your table or other outdoor tortoise enclosure were to get water logged. We have experienced flash downpours and our tables have drained well.

Please note - there is no returns of our tortoise tables as these are all made to order items. Every table is custom made and all lengths of plastic is cut after you place your order. However, we can cancel your order in the first 7 days from payment with a full refund, you must contact us immediately during this time to qualify for a full refund.
